Wildlife in Iceland
There is an abundance of wildlife in Iceland including marine mammals, birds and of course, land mammals. It’s hard to imagine but true that the only native land mammal to Iceland is the Arctic Fox.
Iceland is one of the biggest island in Europe and its vastness offers a multitude of landscapes and formations which lends itself to an array of wildlife. You may even experience polar bears on a rare occasion which visit Iceland crossing over from Greenland on icebergs.
The Arctic Fox has adapted to living in freezing environments. The fox has acclimatised to the cold and developed survival technics for Iceland’s extreme conditions.
