Trip Difficulty: ⅕ Easy | 2 x Landing stops (Volcano Hengill & Langjökull Glacier)
Helicopter tour offers won’t come ay better than the over two hours of aerial Iceland you will enjoy during the Fire Ice Helicopter Tour. It’s exciting, unique and offers the most fulfilling way to experience both sides of native Iceland. Explore the vast expanses of the ice making up the glaciers in one part, and the hot and steamy geothermal areas in the other.
The helicopter tour is an intimate affair, with a minimum of just three people required, this makes it the ideal addition to a honeymoon itinerary.
All our helicopter adventures set off from Reykjavik airport following a quick safety briefing. As the craft takes to the skies, you begin to see a version of the city you haven’t seen before. The tour gives you a little glimpse into the future but never prepares you for the full assault on your senses this ride brings. From the local airport, you directly fly to the Þórisjökull glacier. Along the way, you can marvel at the beauty of the rugged terrain below.
You will get a bird’s eye view of Iceland’s highest waterfall at 198m, and watch the grand and magnificent curtain of water as gravity pulls it down into the pool beneath. On reaching the glacier landing zone, 1350m above sea level, the air is clean and crisp. This is the moment when your inner child escapes, you can make a snowman, have a snowball fight, make snow angels or just gaze up at the sky, enjoy the views and take lots of photos. The Fire Ice Helicopter Tours is definitely one not to be missed!
The next stop is Þingvellir National Park, where the first parliament in the history of Iceland is located. The national park also has the country’s largest natural lake, and it’s where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet. The Silfra fissure is as a result of the plates drifting apart and is explorable underwater. It is only at a height that you can fully appreciate the extent of the impact of plate movement.
The second landing of the tour takes place in the geothermal area of Hengill, a secluded valley accessible via a grueling hike, or helicopter. The valley floor is strewn with bubbling mud pots and hot springs. Experience the magic of the natural forces taking place deep within the earth’s core. You can walk up close to the edges of the mud pots and marvel at features that have probably existed for thousands of years.

Jump back into the helicopter and you are transported to the polar opposite of your first experience. The steam from the hot springs rises to greet you as you land as if to say hello. You walk among the mud pools and springs littering the valley floor, maybe you wonder, how is this even possible. It’s the magic, and it’s got a way of wrapping itself around you to give you an experience you won’t be forgetting anytime soon.

Thank you for fitting me in at the last minute especially when it was just me going. A tremendously worthwhile helicopter tour that you could say was "out of this world".
My family and I only had 2.5 days as a stopover in Iceland on the way to New York. To see as much as we could within this short time, Nature Kicks recommended this helicopter tour. Thank you so much, this was the most amazingly educational and once in a lifetime tour for us. Although, quite expensive, we just had to do it when we saw what was included in the sightseeing. Great value!
Amazingly beautiful and worth every cent we spent on this tour. Iceland has so much to take in and nature has so much to give. Short on time? This tour will explore so much within half a day!
Please note: We will send you the finer details such as the timings of the flight once we receive your booking. All helicopter tours are weather dependent and timing may change for your safety.
