Silfra Snorkeling Day Tour – Difficulty: ⅖ Rating: Easy
Words often used to describe the experience include “Awesome, fantastic, unbelievable” and we can’t wait for you to add your own to the above phrases.
Located in Þingvellir National Park, a place of national significance to Iceland, the Silfra fissure is located between the Eurasian and American tectonic plates. Offering one of the best freshwater snorkeling locations in the world, the Silfra Snorkeling Day Tour will take you to all the four stages of Silfra, namely the Big Crack, Silfra Hall, Silfra Cathedral and Silfra Lagoon.
Wearing glasses for your eyesight problems may make it difficult for you to participate in snorkeling. A tight seal is required to prevent the goggles from filling up with water. If you can have contact lenses for the day then please make sure you use them instead of glasses. If you are a regular snorkeler you may have prescription goggles which would do in this case.
A day’s worth of snorkeling in one of the world’s prime diving locations, who wouldn’t go? With various start times available, the 50 km drive to Silfra will take us just under one hour to complete. We can arrange local pick up from your hotel or you can drive yourself and we will meet at Silfra parking lot.
This tour runs every day of the week. It is one of our most popular tours and therefore, early booking is recommended. Please note, only certain times is pick up transport available.
Bring the following along to help make the most of your snorkeling experience with us:
• Warm under clothes to wear underneath your wetsuit so that you are as warm as possible
• Towel for drying off after your diving experience and possibly a change of clothes in case you get wet (unlikely but possible)
• Your digital camera with a waterproof enclosure to take photographs underwater
• Buy a waterproof disposable camera, usually a better option if you have an expensive digital camera
