Ride The Volcano: From Helicopter to Mountain Bike – Trip Difficulty: ⅘ Challenging
Ride The Volcano is an extraordinary mountain biking day setting off on a helicopter to one of the most famous geothermal volcanic areas of Iceland followed by mountain biking down the Hengill volcano.
The journey begins in Reykjavik as we fly out to the Hengill volcano peak and down a single track descent on a geothermal volcanic mountain. The views are sensational and you are highly encouraged to bring a camera or even better, a Go Pro for your ride.
This epic mountain bike ride is better suited to the expert level, advanced riders as the next leg of the day will prove more experience is required among the riders. Also, bearing in mind, the duration of the biking day is 5 to 6 hours long.
As we approach the afternoon, our support jeep will lead us up to the top of the Edge Lava trail for a momentous downhill technical, single track and sweeping fast trail back to base in Reykjavik.
Once in Reykjavik, we can settle down to a burger and a beer, and recollect on the epic 5 to 6 hours mountain biking trip we have just returned from.
Come and get some!
