Mention the words ‘Golden Circle” to anyone who has visited Iceland extensively and they will tell you it’s well worth a visit. Combine that with a buggy Iceland adventure and you have a super fun day planned ahead.
The tourist numbers to this magnificent area of Iceland continue to grow year on year, and for a good reason too. This is one of the most spectacular places on the planet, with a lot to see and experience. A visit to Iceland would be incomplete without visiting the Golden Circle.
So what’s in store for you on this particular tour?
First stop is the Þingvellir national park which is famous as the place where Iceland’s governing structure was born back in 930 AD. Beyond that, it is also a place of geological importance because it’s where the Eurasian and American continental plates meet.
The movement of the plates have created a natural fissure which is great for snorkelling. For its historical and geological importance, Þingvellir national park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Iceland is famous for its hot springs due to the volcanic activity taking place beneath its surface. The next destination on the tour is the hot spring capital of Iceland, Geysir. Everyone who has been here will tell you what a marvel Strokkur is. An active hot spring, it erupts like clockwork every 4 to 10 minutes, sending a jet of hot water over 20 meters into the air.
From Geysir you will head to the “Golden Waterfall” or Gullfoss as it’s known here. The glacial Hvitá river feeds the falls which is in turn fed by Iceland´s second biggest glacier, the Langjökull. This is a great opportunity to witness the power of nature and understand how the glaciers contribute to Iceland’s natural beauty.
To top the tour off you will also enjoy a one hour buggy Iceland adventure along the less trodden dirt roads and tracks in the wild. This is a great opportunity to get the adrenaline pumping as you ride at speed in two-seater buggies.
This tour runs all year round so you can still enjoy the beauty of Iceland whether it’s summer or winter time. The duration of the trip is at least 10 hours long including an early morning pick up, and drop off at the end of the day.
A minimum age of 6 years applies for participants on the tour, and a driving license is required to drive the buggies.
It is recommended you wear warm clothing and hiking boots and to bring your camera to capture the sights and experiences. You may bring packed lunch or some money to buy lunch when we stop along the way.
Thank you NK. A once in a lifetime trip to Iceland it was and you made good things happen. The golden circle buggy experience was one of our best days. Only thing, the kids said the buggy trip should have been much longer 🙂 was long enough for my wife and I!!
Super fun. Super cool. Was a great start and set the momentum for the rest of the excursions!
*Solo rides are also available at a little extra charge. Select this option when booking. You can drive your own buggy throughout the whole adventure!
