Glacier Hike Iceland from Reykjavik – Difficulty ⅖ Rating: Easy
If you would like to experience the South Coast of Iceland better than you could on your own, then this is the tour for you. We will show you all the faces of Iceland, from roaring waterfalls, energetic volcanoes and the farmlands of the south coast.
Experienced and glacier certified guides will take you on this adventure of a lifetime. Ever wondered what it feels like to hike on a glacier?
Wonder no more as this tour will take you to the most beautiful glacier.
Following the 2 to 3 hours hike, we will head to the breathtaking Skógafoss waterfall for our final stop of the tour.
Here you will get a rare opportunity to climb up 60 meters right next to the wall of water making up the falls. From the top you will stand in awe of the mass of water, feel the spray on your face and if the sun is on our side witness the colourful rainbows forming.
You will see the notorious volcanoes Hekla and Eyjafjallajökull as we drive through rich farmland and the villages of the South Shores.
This is a road trip in every sense of the word with the opportunity to learn about viking history along the way. This is a true adventure and that’s what makes this a very unique and exciting tour.
• Hiking shoes are essential if you are going to participate in the glacier walk
• Waterproof jackets and waterproof trousers are also highly recommended in case the weather turns and we are caught in a downpour.
The tour runs all year round. The following are included as part of the tour cost:
• Door to door pickup from your accommodation lobby. You are expected to be ready by 8:00am
• We will take you to Sólheimajökull glacier as well as the other stopping points on the itinerary
To make your adventure as enjoyable as possible you will need to bring with you a few items:
• The temperatures are quite unforgiving, this is Iceland after all. Please ensure you are adequately dressed, with warm outdoor clothing, waterproof coat, hat and gloves, sturdy hiking boots.
One of the frequently asked question is the length of the tour. It will certainly feel like a lifetime due to all the things you will witness. In 10 hours, you will have walked on a live glacier, seen volcanoes and walked beside a mighty waterfall.
For the enjoyment of everyone on the tour the group size is kept to 6 persons per guide. This allows everyone to have access to the guide and to ask questions.
Best ever! Thank you nature kicks for a super time.
This holiday was the best I have had thanks to my friend. We came to Iceland having booked just this tour as we only had 3 days stopover. The best day ever full of adventure hiking and beautiful scenery and the most amazing guides.
Thank you Nature Kicks. All we can say is WOW! My wife and I went to Iceland for our honeymoon and booked this hiking adventure at last minute. 10 hours of nonstop fun and exploration, what more could we have asked for. Well recommended.
Absolutely superb. Thanks to your team for recommending this tour 🙂 Our group has been to Iceland 3 times but we have never done this amazing hiking adventure. I have already referred your company to 3 other friends who will hopefully book with you too! Fingers crossed X
Note: All transfers from your Reykjavik hotel. Simply select the option when you are ready to book.
The weather as you know is unpredictable especially so, in this part of the world. In the event we have to cancel the glacier walk due to bad weather, alternative arrangements are in place.
