2 Day Iceland South Coast Adventure – Difficulty ⅖ Rating: Easy
Enjoy the stunning beauty of Iceland in this 2 day adventure around Iceland’s South Coast. Our certified guide will be with you throughout this adventure tour as you experience glaciers, waterfalls, black sand beaches, volcanoes and glacier lagoons.
This tour will combine both leisure sightseeing and natural adventure to help you make the best of the 2 days with us on this memorable experience.
You will be picked up from your Reykjavik hotel or accommodation around 8AM on the day of departure and we will head towards the South Coast. Along the way, you will experience magnificent scenery and history narrated by the guide.
The first stop as it at one of Iceland infamous spots, the Seljalandsfoss Waterfall. Followed by Skógafoss Waterfall a well known spot on the Icelandic tourist map. Through all the anticipation, you will surely be hungry and our next stop will take you to a local bistro for some lunch.
Once you have refilled on food, energy and a bit of rest, we will hike around the famous black sandy beaches of the south shore and explore the the various geological formations and the vast Atlantic ocean that breaks over the black beach.
In the afternoon, we had off to one of Iceland’s prominent parks, the Skaftafell National Park where we will spend the night on the foothills of the most majestic mountain range. You will have time to set up at the local hotel accommodation for the night before we settle down to a lovely Icelandic dinner.
Day 2 is just as exciting as day 1 if not more. Following breakfast, we will depart at about 9AM eastwards to explore the awe-inspiring Glacier Lagoon. Breiðamerkurjökull glacier is an outlet glacier of the larger glacier of Vatnajökull in southeastern Iceland. At the head of Breiðamerkurjökull is the world famous Jökulsárlón glacier lake. Parts of this lagoon are blue crystalline in colour.
Our next stop is the Svínafellsjökull glacier where you will go glacier hiking for approximately 1.5 hours with the certified glacier guide. We encourage you to ask any questions with regards to the history or geology of the sites as we know you may have some!
After a full on day in the South Coast, we will drive back to Reykjavik to your accommodation. There may be a few sightseeing stops along the way that may surprise you.
• Hiking shoes are essential if you are going to participate on this tour
• Waterproof jackets and waterproof trousers are also highly recommended in case the weather turns and we are caught in a downpour.
The tour runs all year round. The following are included as part of the tour cost:
• Door to door pickup from your accommodation lobby. You are expected to be ready by 8:00am on day of departure
• We will take you to Svínafellsjökull glacier as well as the other stopping points on the itinerary
• Accommodation (Double room) on day 1 & Breakfast on day 2
• Mountain boots & rain gear for the glacier hike
To make your adventure as enjoyable as possible you will need to bring with you a few items:
• The temperatures are quite unforgiving, this is Iceland after all. Please ensure you are adequately dressed, with warm outdoor clothing, waterproof coat, hat and gloves, sturdy hiking boots.
One of the frequently asked question is the length of the tour. It will certainly feel like a lifetime due to all the things you will witness in the 2 days, you will have walked on a live glacier, seen lagoons and walked beside a mighty waterfall.
For the enjoyment of everyone on the tour the group size is kept to 8 persons per guide. This allows everyone to have access to the guide and to ask questions.
